I was born in Ireland and came to Canada as a child – the son of an Irish Policeman who was hired by the City of Edmonton.
After a wonderful career in aviation and tourism where I rose to the rank of senior executive in a couple of companies, my wife and I decided to slow down to the pace of life and have lived just 10 miles west of Didsbury & Carstairs since the spring of 2000. We have two grown daughters nearby and five lovely grandkids.
I have served on the board of the local Prairies To Peaks Tourism association for 5 years including 2 years as chair. Since March of 2006, I am a member at large of the Town of Didsbury, Municipal Planning Commission and have just been reappointed for another two years. I also sit on Mountain View County’s Economic Development & Tourism Committee.
I thoroughly enjoy the interaction with my customers and I’m proud of the quality of service I am able to provide them.
In 2006 I took the FRAPP (Farm, Ranch and Acreage Property Program) course offered through Olds College to teach me the added skills necessary when dealing with farms and acreages. I also completed my brokers license courses that are the most advanced training for real estate practionishers. This would allow me to be a broker if I choose.
With that training, questions about septic systems, water wells, soil types and soil classification as well as environmental assessment of farmsteads can be easily answered are all part of the skills I offer gladly to my customers.
Many of my younger customers think of me as “Uncle Mel” because of the care and concern I demonstrate when helping them with sometimes complex real estate issues.
